“Strength work on the body inherently builds the mind.”
Intentional Movement was founded to bridge the gap between the practice of inner strength, skill, and study into a progressive roadmap for the committed individual.
Inner Strength work on the body inherently builds the mind. If you have not safely deadlifted your bodyweight in pounds, you lack the frame of reference to anchor your body into a strenuous state.
Skill work redirects the natural energy built in the body towards a more meditative, progressive experience. If you have not engaged in consistent, skillful practice, you lack the anchor for discipline and consistency when everything else may go against you.
Study - more specifically, a broadened study - enables the mind to further explore the possibilities and impossibilities that may hinder or inspire. Without study, your viewpoint is tunneled from the potential pathways that may prove more effective and thought-provoking.
There have been numerous practices that amplify 1 or 2 of these qualities, but more often than not, they either neglect the other facet OR even worse, they demonize the other quality.
As an example, Yoga is a mindful practice; Kettlebells are a phenomenal source of strength training; Academics can enrich the perspective.
“My idea of good company is the company of clever, well-informed people who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company.”
— Jane Austen
“
In every training I assist or attend, I find more reasons to love: my community, my movement, and life itself. If you want to get strong, seek out those who make it their goal to master these qualities. Whatever you seek - find those who live that truth.
